 The Village of Glencoe is located approximately 20 miles north of Chicago, along Lake Michigan, and is one of the villages and communities that make up the “North Shore.” Approximately a 35-minute drive to downtown Chicago, Glencoe is also served by the Metra train system, making a trip downtown only about 45 minutes.

Opportunities for outdoor activities abound in Glencoe and the Village is known for its abundant parks and forest preserves, beaches and golf facilities. Outdoor enthusiasts can bike south through forest preserves or north up the Green Bay Trail as far as Lake Forest. For golfers, there are three clubs that serve Glencoe and the surrounding villages: the private Lake Shore Country Club, the public Glencoe Golf Club (operated by the Village of Glencoe), and the private Skokie Country Club.

Glencoe is also home to the Writers’ Theater, the renowned Botanic Gardens, and a robust business district.

The Glencoe Public School District serves students in grades K-8 (South, West and Central Schools). High School students High school students attend either New Trier High School, the district high school located in Winnetka, or one of the private schools in the surrounding villages, including  Loyola Academy, North Shore Country Day, Regina Domincan, Roycemore School, and Lake Forest Academy.
