LakeviewIL Real Estate

Lakeview, also spelled Lake View, is a community on the edge of Lake Michigan on the north side of Chicago. With almost 95,000 citizens, it is the second largest community in the Chicago metro area. Lakeview is divided into several smaller sub-neighborhoods, each with their own set of defining characteristics and qualities.

Lakeview real estate styles and prices vary throughout these communities.  A potential buyer will have no trouble finding a great place in Lakeview. Some of the more popular communities in Lakeview include: Wrigleyville, Boystown, and Roscoe Village.

 Boystown

Over the years Boystown has played a significant role in defining the identity of the Chicago community. With fashion boutiques, a nationally recognized theatre district, fine dining, several unique bars and cafes, North Halsted Street is considered the center of activity in Boystown.  This neighborhood represents the open-minded attitudes of the local area and celebrates the diversity of Chicago.

 Roscoe Village

Located on the North Side of Chicago, Roscoe Village is more of a residential concept than an actual area. Most residents agree that the boundaries are Western Avenue, Ravenswood Avenue, Addison Street, and Belmont Avenue.

Although Roscoe Village is not recognized as a bounded community, it has an active board, known as the Roscoe Village Neighbors. This organization, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, serves the interests and concerns of the Roscoe Village residents. According to their website, the members of Roscoe Village Neighbors serve as information liaisons, initiating community efforts, organizing social activities, and providing a forum for residents. Further, RVN works with officials and citizens to maintain the aesthetics and quality of life of the community, promote the village businesses, act as a hub for community information, poll the public, and promote goodwill among neighbors.

Wrigleyville

This neighborhood, surrounding Wrigley Field, is located just south of Boystown. Many of the homes in Wrigleyville sport the unique roofs known as Wrigley Roofs, which serve as platforms for small sets of bleachers.  Through an agreement with the Chicago Cubs ball club, baseball fans can actually buy tickets to watch games from Wrigley Roofs.

Wrigleyville, as you might imagine, is home to an entrenched sports culture.  Also a popular choice among fans of improv comedy, seekers of unique fine dining, Chicago style hot dog stands, and bustling bars and clubs, the Wrigleyville/Boystown area is a popular backdrop choice among Hollywood filmmakers.

The variety of real estate available in Lakeview can run the gamut from single family homes to condos and town homes with prices range from the upper $100’s to luxury condos in the $600,000’s and up.
