Lincoln Park property prices are higher than surrounding Chicago neighborhoods due to the popularity of the neighborhood. The close proximity to downtown and the attraction of great restaurants, shopping, and bars keeps the cost of real estate in Lincoln Park on the high side. Potential residents of this historic neighborhood should plan to spend between $400,000 and $2 million on Lincoln Park real estate. A few of the older buildings have been torn down, so you have your choice of new construction in Lincoln Park, some of which is condo and hybrid home property, and older historic buildings.
New construction in Lincoln Park has resulted in a great amount of beautiful condo buildings. Many of these buildings surround stunning private courtyards, which gives residents the opportunity to socialize with neighbors and provides a safe play area for children. These properties tend to be more reasonably priced than the single family homes, duplexes and three flats in Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park Neighborhoods
Divided into several different sub-neighborhoods, each with their own unique feel and style, Lincoln Park residents can cater their surroundings to their lifestyles. For instance, the DePaul neighborhood, a favorite among the university students due to its close proximity, has affordable condo and apartment style living.
Lincoln Park’s Park West neighborhood includes the best selection of high rise condos. Located along Lincoln Park’s lakefront along Lakeshore Drive and Lincoln Park West, this area is known for higher priced dwellings and its appeal to the city’s young professionals.
The Wrightwood Neighbors, a smaller community edged by Halsted, Fullerton, Diversey, and Lakewood Avenue is well-known for great restaurants, shopping, and world-renowned Chicago theatre venues. The Wrightwood Neighbors sponsor the yearly festival, Taste of Lincoln Avenue.
Other neighborhoods in Lincoln Park include Ranch Triangle and Sheffield Neighbors.
Also, if you are looking for a lot of diversity, you may want to try some of the other areas that border Lincoln Park. Remember that Wrigleyville, Boystown, Lakeview, and many other areas are close by. Rogers Park and Wicker Park aren’t too far away either. Lincoln Park, named after a park located in the neighborhood of Chicago, features the Lincoln Park Zoo, one of the last free zoos in America open to the public. Known for its beautiful natural settings, Lincoln Park is bordered to the north by the Lakeview community, to the west by Logan Square and West Town, and to the south by Near North.
Chicago’s unique contributions to culture and science, as well as education, finance, medicine, and more feed into to all communities and neighborhoods in the Chicago area. Home to DePaul University and Children’s Memorial Hospital, Lincoln Park is no exception. Chicago real estate over all is widely varied and divided into four sections. Lincoln Park is considered part of the North Side, and although not as diverse as some of the other areas, it is very popular with younger residents who are college educated and moving up in the world.
Until the mid 1800’s Lincoln Park was a thick forest with areas of grassland, wetlands, and marshes. In 1824, the army built a post near what residents know today as the intersection of Clybourne Avenue and Armitage Avenue. The history of Lincoln Park includes the presence of Native American settlements and outposts, and the Green Bay Trail cut through the heart of Lincoln Park, now known as Clark Street.
Lincoln Park includes two beautiful parks available for residents and visitors: The Lincoln Park Conservatory, which hosts the previously-mentioned Lincoln Park Zoo and OZ Park. Frank Baum, author of The Wizard of Oz, once lived in this area and Oz Park was named for him. Activities in each of these parks include air shows, boat shows, summer concerts, flower shows, and the Lincoln Park Festival.
This lake front community is mostly comprised of professional young people, fresh college graduates, DePaul University students and beginning families.
