Skokie is located on the northwest border of the city of Chicago and is easily accessible by thoroughfares (many of the major east-west and north-south thoroughfares pass through Skokie), expressway (I94) and public transportation (the CTA’s Yellow Line and the CTA and Pace buses).

One of the most diverse suburbs of Chicago, Skokie’s annual Festival of Cultures attracts more than 350,000 visitors each year.  Skokie’s continued emphasis on culture and nature can be seen in the sculpture garden that runs along the north channel of the Chicago River, on McCormick Boulevard and the state-of-the-art North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, which includes the Northlight Theatre and the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra.

Home to 240 acres of parkland, the Skokie Park District is renowned for its activities, programs and facilities. It has also been the recipient of the “National Gold Medal for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management” and is an Illinois "Distinguished Park and Recreation Agency.”

Skokie is home to a number of excellent public and private elementary, junior high and high schools. Niles Township District 219 (home to Niles North, East and West High Schools) was named a Kennedy Center for Performing Arts Top Program for Fine Arts Education in 2007.

The Skokie Public Library received the National Medal for Museum and Library Service (given annually to 5 libraries and 5 museums in the nation) in 2008. It is the first public library in Illinois to be awarded this medal.

While Skokie has its share of multi-million dollar homes along the lakefront and in beautiful Hubbard Woods, 3-4 bedroom homes start in the $500,000 with a median sales price around $1.1 million.  2-3 bedroom condo and townhome options are limited, but can be found starting in the $300,000’s.
