Located about 20 miles north of Chicago along the coast of Lake Michigan, the village of Winnekta is central to the group of towns and villages that make up the “North Shore.” It is approximately a 30-minute drive to downtown Chicago. The Metra train system also serves Winnetka (there are three stations in the Village), making a trip downtown only 45 minutes.

The Winnetka public school system is divided into K-4 (Hubbard Woods, Crow Island, and Samuel Sewall Greeley Elementary Schools), 5-6 grades (The Skokie School), and 7-8 grades (Washburne School).  Grades 9-12 attend New Trier High School, a nationally-recognized, competitive high school that serves Winnetka and surrounding towns.

Winnetka also has a number of private schools, including Faith Hope and Charity School, Sacred Heart School, and the North Shore Country Day School.

Hugging the shore of Lake Michigan, Winnketa is home to public beaches and a boat launch, as well as parks, an indoor tennis club, ice rink, public golf course and forest preserve areas.

While Winnetka has its share of multi-million dollar homes along the lakefront and in beautiful Hubbard Woods, 3-4 bedroom homes start in the $500,000 with a median sales price around $1.1 million.  2-3 bedroom condo and townhome options are limited, but can be found starting in the $300,000’s.
